What you can do in Sg. Lembing…let me tell you this. If you like adventurous and relaxing activity…yeah…adventurous+relaxing…. Sg. Lembing is one of the place. Here’s my trip itinerary:
1. Visiting the small little town….. we can see a small hut with a weird old malfunction fuel pump in there…yeah..it’s their “petrol station” which went into the history long ago and the hundreds years old hang bridge.
2. Charas Cave – believe to be aged million of years and formed by granite and limestone. If you dare to explore more, there’re 3 more caves nearby; Buddha Cave, Elephant Cave and The Three Brothers Cave
3. Panorama Hill
4. Rainbow Waterfall
5. FOOD…FOOD….FOOOODDD!!!!
6. An abandoned old system mineral filtering spot built by the English people…. (O.o)!! …Accidentally found it…do you guys know???
Let’s stop all this “blaa”ing now and the pictures will tell the story.
mm…before reaching Sg. Lembing, we stopby Bentong to have our teabreak…the famous Kow Po Restaurant where the owner produce his own ice-cream recipe which you MUST try!!! ….
Direction to go Gua Charas:
1. Enter Exit 833 to Persimpangan Kuantan. Then take the right turning to Sg. Lembing and go straight.
2. Until you reach a split road, take the right road. You can see there’s a police station just beside the road on your right hand side.
3. Follow the main road until you see the 1st junction on your right and you are there!! Gua Charas…. :D
Along the main road, you will see lots of cow wandering at the road…just go slowly and they will give you the way.
Yes…just a little climb…not tiring….
There’s a sleeping Buddha inside the cave.
mm…some…. “artistic local art” on the wallstone….
This maybe the old way to go to the cave, but it is close for safety reason.
Before getting into the Sg. Lembing town, we saw our 1st hanging bridge!! …
Yeahh!!…our main target!!! we are here!!!! but need to filled up our empty stomach
The famous Sg. Lembing noodle….must try. They cooked in variety of flavours.
The “petrol station” that is in its history. The only petrol station in this town long time ago and it is located at the middle of the town’s main road.
We stayed in S.L Nature Resthouse. It’s a very nice resthouse, each room with attached bathroom and only cost around:
The next day, we will go to Rainbow waterfall. Wake up around 5am and a quick breakfast at around 5:30am. I saw many of the groups were having breakfast at the only market in the town. I wish to have some “Mountain Toufu” – toufu which used the mountain water to proccess, but unfortunately I have to wait and there’s not enough time for me to have it now. So I may just try it after return from the waterfall.
The journey started with full of joy, yelling for speed and bumping road. Just tighten your grip on the 4 wheels …. and…on the way to the destination, we were welcome with the 1st rainbow, which shows hope to us:
Yes, you need to do some river-crossing, jungle trekking and hiking to get to the waterfall spot. Adventurous huh…? …. The adventure took around 45 minutes and you need to follow the instructions from the tourguide a.k.a the locals on where to steps and walk. Please follow, as I saw some of the tourists sis not follow the instruction and get into trouble especially when comes to the hiking part. It is quite dangerous as you do not familiar with the rocks and jungle as the locals do.
The hiking part. Some paths are slippery.
At last…..we reach the waterfall ……
If you are thinking of your food/breakfast for this trip, no worry, as the rainbow waterfall trip has included breakfast for you. With RM42+/pax, the tourguide will prepare the breakfast. Naahh…not luxury food…just a cup of hot Milo/Tea/Coffee and a cup of instant noodle. But it is enough for the breakfast, you know.
We started to hike down that area around 12pm noon, as there’ll be 2nd batch to visit the places. After some rest and clean up, we have our lunch at the market….another different taste of the Sg. Lembing noodles:
Next, to visit The Mines Museum located nearby to the market, I can said that it is almost end of the main road, its building is just up a small hill.
Then, we visited an oldman who believe to be the crystal collector in the town. Uncle is so kind to let us visits and enjoy his collection and as well listening to his experience as the Mine’s explosive expert for more than 30 years.
He build his own replicate of the Mines entrance at his garden just to let visitor experience the environment in the Mines hole. It is so cool!!!
I was wondering on a mystery spot when on the way to uncle’s house. So, I asked about it and it really a historical spot that abandon many years ago and no one has the intention to retain it for tourists spot!!! …. Let me show you:
According to uncle, this is the Mineral filtering system built by the English company long time ago. This system can filter up to 4 types of mineral from the Mines, which is the Tin, Steel, Silver and Bronze. You may easily missed this spot as you will thought it was an abandon housing area … :P ….. just look carefully and you will feel the history behind it.
Not forgotten the hundred years old hang bridge that still used by the locals to cross the river. You may try to buy the local product; egg-roll biscuits at the village over there:
Oh ya..not forget about the famous pork in town!! (Sorry for this…non-halal… >.<). I’m not really sure where it is, but if you stay at S.L Nature Guesthouse, you can ask help from the owner to buy you this.
Next morning, we wake up at around 5am to start our hiking at the Panorama hill. For beginner, this hill is just like kacang putih for you. As it has already built with proper stairs and handle for your to climb. It took around 45 minutes to reach to the peak. We waited for the sun rise and also to enjoy the clouds. But we are no lucky for both…Sad…sad …. T.T …..it’s just not the day!!
Let see the road to hike this hill:
Before we say “Bye bye” to Sg. Lembing, we have our lunch at the market AGAIN…and this time with the mountain toufu!!
